Question 1
Why do you want to be a Discord Moderator for REC.ZONE specifically? What draws you to this community and this role over any other?
💬 Follow-up ✦ based on your answer Optional
Interesting — so beyond wanting the role, what's one specific thing you'd change or improve about how most Discord servers are moderated today?
💬 Follow-up ✦ based on your answer Optional
Tell us more — what specifically about REC.ZONE made you want to apply here rather than any other community?
Question 2
What is your timezone? What days and hours are you most reliably available? Be specific — we need to know when we can count on you.
💬 Follow-up ✦ based on your answer Optional
That's fairly limited availability — how would you make sure the community still feels covered during your off-hours? Would you coordinate with other mods?
💬 Follow-up ✦ based on your answer Optional
Great availability — which part of the day do you think REC.ZONE most needs a mod online, and are you around then?
Question 3
Describe your previous moderation experience in detail. Include: server names (if public), peak member count, your exact responsibilities, how long you served, and why you left or are still there.
💬 Follow-up ✦ based on your answer Optional
No moderation experience — that's completely okay. Where did you build your experience handling people and conflict instead? School, sports, gaming groups, real life? What makes you ready for this anyway?
💬 Follow-up ✦ based on your answer Optional
Interesting — what was the single hardest moderation call you made in that server, and looking back, would you make the same decision today?
💬 Follow-up ✦ based on your answer Optional
You mentioned MEE6 — did you configure its automod and warning system yourself, or just use it? Walk us through what you set up.
💬 Follow-up ✦ based on your answer Optional
You brought up banning — what's your personal rule for when a situation has crossed the line from a warning/mute to a full ban?
Question 4
SCENARIO: A veteran community member posts a message that could be read as a personal attack, but could also be blunt criticism. The person targeted is visibly upset and others are starting to weigh in. There is no clear rule violation. Walk us through every step you take — what you say, who you contact, what you document.
💬 Follow-up ✦ based on your answer Optional
Good instincts — now flip it: what if after you acted, the community pushed back and said you were being too heavy-handed? How do you respond?
💬 Follow-up ✦ based on your answer Optional
Walk us through it more concretely — what would be the very first message you send, and would it be public or a DM?
Question 5
SCENARIO: A newer member DMs you screenshots showing that a well-known, well-liked community member has been harassing them in private messages over two weeks. The accused is active in the server right now and denies everything. How do you handle this, step by step?
💬 Follow-up ✦ based on your answer Optional
Interesting approach — what if the screenshots turned out to be edited or faked to get someone banned? How would that change what you did?
Question 6
SCENARIO: You are the only moderator online at 2 AM. A coordinated raid begins — dozens of bot accounts join simultaneously and start mass-posting graphic content and slurs across every channel. What are your immediate actions in order? What do you do if you cannot stop it alone?
💬 Follow-up ✦ based on your answer Optional
Solid — after the raid is over, what do you do in the next 24 hours to make sure it doesn't happen again?
Question 7
A senior moderator or admin makes a moderation call you believe is unfair or wrong — perhaps banning someone you think was innocent. How do you handle this professionally? Have you dealt with a similar situation before? If yes, describe it.
💬 Follow-up ✦ based on your answer Optional
Interesting — and if the senior mod dismissed your concern and told you to drop it, what would you actually do then?
💬 Follow-up ✦ based on your answer Optional
Be specific — would you raise it in front of others, DM them privately, or take it to a higher admin? Why that route?
Question 8
In your own words, what does a well-moderated gaming community look like? What are the most common mistakes moderators make, and how do you avoid them?
💬 Follow-up ✦ based on your answer Optional
Good take — what's one 'rule' or moderation habit that's popular but you personally think does more harm than good?
💬 Follow-up ✦ based on your answer Optional
Give us a real example — name one community you think is well-run and one that isn't, and what makes the difference.
Question 9
Moderation can be emotionally draining. How do you handle burnout, difficult content, and community conflict without it affecting your judgment or personal wellbeing?
💬 Follow-up ✦ based on your answer Optional
Be honest — everyone hits a wall eventually. What would be the warning sign that you're getting burnt out, and what would you want us to do about it?
💬 Follow-up ✦ based on your answer Optional
Good — and how do you personally switch off from moderation drama so it doesn't follow you into real life?
Question 10 Optional — skip if you want
Is there anything else you want us to know about you — your personality, work style, or anything that sets you apart from other applicants?
Question 11
Why should we trust you with this role? What makes you accountable and reliable when nobody is watching?
💬 Follow-up ✦ based on your answer Optional
Interesting — now the flip side: what's a genuine reason we might hesitate to trust you, and how would you prove us wrong?
Question 12
Describe how you work in a team. What do you do when you strongly disagree with a teammate on how something should be done?
Question 13
How do you handle harsh or blunt criticism of your work? Tell us about a time you received tough feedback and what you did with it.
Question 14
This is a passion project — what motivates you to contribute your time and skill to something like REC.ZONE?
Question 15
What real-life commitments (school, work, family, other projects) could affect your availability, and how will you balance them?
💬 Follow-up ✦ based on your answer Optional
You said not much would get in the way — be realistic with us: what would actually pull you away, and how would you give us a heads-up?
Question 16
Are you currently part of any other teams, servers, studios, or projects? If so, which ones and in what capacity?
💬 Follow-up ✦ based on your answer Optional
Noted — how would you balance REC.ZONE with those other commitments if both needed you at once?
Question 17
What is your greatest strength for this role, and what is one genuine weakness you are actively working on?
💬 Follow-up ✦ based on your answer Optional
Good self-awareness — what are you actively doing right now to work on that weakness?
Question 18
Where do you see yourself within REC.ZONE six months from now if accepted?
💬 Follow-up ✦ based on your answer Optional
Interesting vision — what's the first concrete step you'd take in week one to head toward that?
Question 19 Optional — skip if you want
How did you find REC.ZONE? Did someone refer you? If so, who?

You irrevocably assign all rights, titles, and interests in and to such Work Product, including all intellectual property rights, copyrights, and trade secrets therein, to RECZONE immediately upon creation. In the event of a breach of this agreement, RECZONE reserves the right to immediately terminate your access, remove your involvement from the project, pursue the removal of any leaked assets via legal takedown notices (such as DMCA), and seek all available legal and equitable remedies to protect the integrity of the project. 2. Team Membership Status, Disciplinary Action, & Termination (a) At-Will Participation: You understand and agree that your participation, role, and membership within the RECZONE development team is entirely voluntary and at-will. RECZONE leadership reserves the absolute right to terminate your membership, remove you from the team, alter your role, and revoke your access to any and all team platforms, servers, repositories, and tools at any time, with or without prior notice, for any reason or no reason at all. (b) Grounds for Immediate Termination: While RECZONE may terminate membership at-will, certain actions will result in immediate removal, asset revocation, and potential blocklisting from the community. These include, but are not limited to: * Policy Violations: Any breach of RECZONE guidelines, codes of conduct, or community standards. * Inactivity and Neglect: Prolonged, unexcused inactivity, failure to communicate with leadership, or a persistent failure to meet project deadlines and quality standards. * Conduct Detrimental to the Project: Engaging in toxic behavior, harassment, leaking internal discussions, or acting in a manner that harms the reputation, morale, or progress of RECZONE and its team members. * Discretion of Leadership: Any other reason determined by RECZONE Staff to be necessary for the health and security of the project, whether explicitly listed in this document or not. (c) Effect of Termination: Upon termination or removal from the RECZONE team for any reason, your license to use or access RECZONE assets, tools, and internal communication channels is immediately revoked. You must immediately cease all use of RECZONE-owned property. Termination of your team membership does not release you from your ongoing obligations regarding Intellectual Property and Confidentiality as outlined in Section 1. 3. Binding Agreement, Minor Status, & Execution (a) Acknowledgement and Acceptance: By signing below, electronically executing this document, or continuing to participate within the RECZONE team, platforms, or development environments, you affirm that you have read, fully understood, and expressly agree to be legally bound by all the terms, conditions, and obligations outlined in this Agreement. You acknowledge that this agreement constitutes a binding contract between yourself and RECZONE. (c) Severability: If any provision of this Agreement is found by a court or authority to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions of this Agreement will remain in full force and effect.
