Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy ("Policy") applies to REC.ZONE ("we," "us," or "our") and governs how we collect, use, and protect information you provide when using https://rec.zone (the "Site") and the RECZONE application for desktop and virtual reality headsets (the "App"). By using the Site or the App, you consent to the data practices described here. Section V covers the App specifically.

I. Information We Collect

We collect the following information when you register or use the Site:

• Email address, required at signup for account verification and communications
• Username and display name, chosen by you and visible to other members
• Password, stored as a secure one-way hash; we cannot read your password
• Profile content, avatar, banner image, biography, and social links you optionally provide
• Chat messages, messages you post in the public chat are stored and visible to all members
• Discord account, if you connect Discord via OAuth, we store your Discord user ID and profile link
• IP address, collected automatically for security, spam prevention, and abuse enforcement
• Session data, a cookie is used to keep you logged in between visits
• RecZone+ subscription data, if you subscribe, we store your subscription tier, status, and billing cycle dates, along with a Stripe-generated customer/subscription ID, see Section III for details

We do not collect or store your full credit card number, CVV, or other complete payment credentials, that information is collected and stored directly by Stripe, our payment processor, on our behalf. We do not collect demographic information such as age or gender on the Site. The App collects a limited age group for the reasons described in Section V.

If you post content in the public chat or on your profile, that information is visible to other logged-in users of the Site.

II. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Create and maintain your account
• Verify your email address and deliver transactional emails (verification codes, password resets)
• Display your profile and messages to other members
• Enforce our Community Rules and Terms of Use, including moderation and banning
• Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, spam, and unauthorized access
• Comply with applicable laws, legal processes, or governmental requests
• Notify you of significant changes to the Site or these policies

We do not use your information for advertising, marketing, or sale to third parties.

III. Sharing Information with Third Parties

We do not sell, rent, or lease your personal information to third parties.

We use third-party infrastructure providers to host and operate the Site. Your data is stored on servers located in the United States managed by our hosting provider. These providers process data on our behalf and are contractually prohibited from using your information for any other purpose.

If you connect a third-party account (such as Discord) to your REC.ZONE account, limited profile information may be exchanged with that service in accordance with its own privacy policy. You may disconnect third-party accounts at any time from your profile settings.

If you subscribe to RecZone+, your payment is handled entirely by Stripe, our third-party payment processor. We never receive, see, or store your full card number, CVV, or other complete payment credentials, Stripe collects that information directly. We do receive limited data from Stripe needed to operate the subscription, such as your subscription status, billing cycle dates, and a Stripe-generated customer/subscription ID linked to your REC.ZONE account. Your payment information is subject to Stripe's own Privacy Policy.

We may disclose your information without prior notice if required to do so by law or in good faith belief that such disclosure is necessary to: (a) comply with legal process; (b) protect the rights or property of REC.ZONE; or (c) protect the safety of users or the public.

IV. Automatically Collected Information

When you visit the Site, we may automatically collect your IP address, browser type, referring URL, and access times. This information is used to operate the service securely, enforce bans, and analyze general usage patterns. It is not sold or shared with advertisers.

V. The RECZONE App

This Policy covers the RECZONE application ("the App") as well as the Site. The App is a client for the same RECZONE account system, so the practices described throughout this Policy apply to it. This section sets out what the App specifically collects, how that information is used, and how to have it deleted.

What the App collects

• Account information, you sign in to the App with the same RECZONE account described in Section I. The App does not create a separate account or a separate copy of your profile.
• Session token, stored on your device so you stay signed in between launches.
• Account link identifier, a generated identifier that connects your in-app profile to your RECZONE account.
• Device and app information, the App version, operating system, and device type, recorded alongside sign-ins as part of your login and device history.
• IP address, collected when the App contacts our servers, for security, abuse prevention, and access enforcement.
• Licence key records, where access is granted by a licence key, we store the key, the account it belongs to, and the IP addresses it has been activated from.
• Content you submit through the App, such as chat messages or profile changes, handled exactly as the equivalent content submitted on the Site.
• User ID, where the App is distributed through a platform such as Meta, we access your platform user ID to identify your account on that platform and enable account-linked features and add-ons within the App.
• User age group, RECZONE is intended for a mixed-age audience, so where the App is distributed through a platform such as Meta, we access an age group for your account (under 13, or the applicable minimum age in your region, and 13+) to provide an experience appropriate to that age group and to comply with applicable children's privacy law. We receive only the age group, not your exact birthdate.
• In-app purchases and/or downloadable content, where the App offers purchasable content within RECZONE (the game/app, distinct from the RecZone+ subscription described in Section III), we access purchase information needed to process that transaction and deliver the content or download you purchased.

How the App uses it

• To sign you in and keep you signed in
• To connect your in-app activity to your RECZONE account
• To verify access and enforce licence keys
• To detect and prevent abuse, ban evasion, and unauthorised access
• To enable optional add-ons and account-linked features tied to your platform user ID
• To tailor the App's experience to your age group and apply appropriate restrictions for users under 13 (or the applicable minimum age in your region)
• To process in-app purchases and deliver the downloadable content you purchase
• To provide support when you contact us

We do not sell your information, and we do not use App data, including age group, for advertising or profiling.

Data stored on your device

The App stores a session token and local settings and cache files on your device. Signing out removes the session token, and uninstalling the App removes the local data it has stored. Data already sent to our servers is handled under Section VIII.

Deleting your App data

You may request deletion of your account and the associated App data at any time by emailing support@rec.zone from the address on your account, or by opening a support ticket at https://rec.zone/support. Deleting your RECZONE account deletes the App data tied to it, including your profile, account link identifier, and login and device history. We will confirm once the request has been completed. We may retain a limited record where required by law or to enforce a ban, as described in Section VIII.

VI. Cookies and Session Data

We use a single session cookie to keep you logged in. This cookie does not track you across other websites and is not used for advertising. It expires after 7 days of inactivity or when you log out.

You may disable cookies in your browser settings, but doing so will prevent you from staying logged in to the Site.

VII. Security of Your Information

We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, including:

• All connections to the Site are encrypted via HTTPS/TLS
• Passwords are hashed using bcrypt and are never stored in plaintext
• Session tokens are stored server-side and transmitted over secure cookies

No data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, you acknowledge that you provide it at your own risk.

VIII. Data Retention and Deletion

Your account data is retained for as long as your account is active. If your account is banned, your profile data is temporarily retained in a secure snapshot for up to 48 hours to allow for administrative review, after which it is permanently deleted.

This section applies to data collected through the App as well as the Site. To request deletion of your account and personal data, contact us at support@rec.zone. We will process your request within a reasonable time. We may retain certain information where required by law or for legitimate security purposes (e.g., IP ban records to prevent repeated abuse).

IX. Children Under 13

REC.ZONE does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 on the Site. If you are under 13, you must have parental permission to use the Site. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information on the Site without parental consent, we will delete it promptly.

The App is different: RECZONE is built for a mixed-age audience, including users under 13 (or the applicable minimum age in your region). Where the App is distributed through a platform such as Meta, we use the age group described in Section V to identify users in that bracket and apply appropriate restrictions for them, such as limiting data collection and never using their information for advertising or profiling. Contact us at support@rec.zone with any questions about a child's use of the App, or to request deletion of a child's data.

X. External Links

The Site may contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party site you visit.

XI. Your Rights (CCPA / US)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to request access to the personal information we hold about you, and to request its deletion, subject to certain exceptions. To exercise these rights, contact us at support@rec.zone. We do not sell personal information, so no opt-out of sale is applicable.

XII. Email Communications

We send transactional emails only, account verification codes and password resets. We do not send marketing or promotional emails. You cannot opt out of transactional emails while maintaining an active account, as they are required for account security.

XIII. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will post a notice on the Site or send an email to your registered address. Your continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Policy.
